We are looking for a talented and passionate individual interested in working with the community to respond to requests for assistance for individuals, families, or the community.  This person will be part of the Community Support Team (CST) consisting of Peer/Family Specialists and Sacramento County Mental Health Counselors who will provide a mobile response within the community to individuals seeking support and services. We work to make connections and navigate the services system to prevent or reduce risks or stressors for individuals seeking support.  Most importantly, the Community Support Specialist shares their lived experience and will use their life stories to foster hope and support to individuals seeking services. Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Summary of the Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Community Support Specialist (CSS) is responsible for the day to day service delivery of the Community Support Team program, including responding to crisis, early intervention, coordinating with County Staff, developing Recovery Plans, engaging community resources and documenting services.   • What You Will Need to Join Our Team:
  • Individual must either be a primary mental health consumer (documented mental illness) or the spouse, parent, or child of a primary mental health consumer (documented mental illness). Current or previous experience with mental health services. Willingness to share personal knowledge related to self-help, peer support and recovery.
  • Must have successfully utilized recovery skills (i.e. Wellness Recovery Action Plan, self-help supports, implementation of recovery goals) and have maintained a recovery status for at least one year at the time of application.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention, advocacy for peers and family members and culturally relevant services. Experience in using a cultural competent, non-judgmental approach.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance, and access to a vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Upon offer of job, successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in social services, psychology or related field preferred AND one year of experience OR equivalent work experience
