Description, Compensation and Benefits:

FRF is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic grant writer to support our fundraising efforts. We are at the very beginning of our grant seeking journey so candidates should have enough knowledge and skill to guide us through the entire pre-award process including identifying areas for grant funding support; updating documentation and compiling template materials; and researching/writing proposals.   1. Funding Needs Assessment:
    1. Guide the FRF team in assessing specific funding priorities
    2. Assist in identifying program/project areas that may be eligible for grant funding support
  2. Prospect Research and Outreach:
    1. Research and identify relevant federal, state, county, city, foundation, and corporate funders as well as funding opportunities (RFPs, etc.) that align with FRF’s mission and goals
    2. Create basic grant “database” (spreadsheet) and calendar with all relevant information including requirements and deadlines for at least 10 potential funding opportunities
    3. Conduct outreach to potential donors, speak with program officers, and prepare/submit LOIs
  3. Drafting master template materials:
    1. Assist in the creation, editing, collection and organization of documents for an FRF grant application package template, including master LOI, executive summary, statement of need, project/program description, budgets, etc.
  4. Writing/submitting proposals using above materials (tailored as necessary):
    1. Write and submit proposals for 3 grants (post-submission responsibilities will be FRF’s)
This is a temporary, short-term contract (6-8 weeks) with the potential to renew. This job will be conducted entirely remotely with regular phone calls. Start date is flexible but must be within October or early November, 2020. Our budget for this contract is $2000-$3000. Compensation is commensurate with experience so please submit a proposal including payment requirements.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of grant research and writing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate FRF's mission and objectives is essential
  • Experience drafting program and project budgets
  • Must be self-directed and organized and able to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Knowledge of humanitarian/disaster relief/emergency management organizations and/or experience engaging with donors that typically fund these organizations is strongly preferred
  • 4-year degree and English language fluency are required
