Fresher Futures has been at the forefront of innovation in healthier food access for sixteen years in the Sacramento area and now proposes a new structural model for nutrition security: Fresher Community Meal Plans.
Currently, there is no pathway for those receiving food assistance funds to combine their resources in order to achieve better pricing and easier access to healthy foods. For those who have neither the time, skill, nor passion to cook, there are no affordable meal plans.
We believe everyone can go to bed well-fed if we empower residents in lower-income and under-resourced areas to pool food budgets, spend together, train together and serve together.
With an initial focus on weekends when youth are not receiving school meals, we can train crews within the community to initiate a sustainable social enterprise model.Â
