It is our mission at A Therapeutic Alternative to do our part in making the world a better place. We do this by providing complementary holistic services to our members, monthly homeless outreach and park trash cleanup in our neighborhood and regular donations to charities. It is our intention to help our members heal, thus we provide a variety of complementary holistic health services. At Common Roots, our holistic health center next door to our dispensary, we provide free service to our members including: One on One consultations, Yoga, Massage Therapy, Meditation, Sound Therapy, Energy Therapy and much more. Because these services are not typically covered by health insurance, they are often not accessible. By providing these services to our members, we can help to educate them on alternative medicine and give them choices for their healthcare. You can find out more about these services at https://atherapeuticalternative.com/services-3/\.
About three years ago we started a monthly Homeless Outreach and Park Trash Pickup in response the the rise in the houseless population in our area. This program was founded with the intention to do something that helps the homeless in Sacramento on a regular basis. We believe we all need to do something to make life easier those experiencing homelessness. Every month, we provide: sleeping bags, food, bottled water, toiletries and socks to people in the East Sacramento, Downtown and Midtown areas. We go out to the parks around Sacramento and talk to the people and hand out the care packages. While we are there, we pick up all the trash in the park and make it a nicer place for visitors. This program not only helps the houseless people in the park, it helps myself and my employees appreciate our own lives and our own opportunities and privileges. One of my fondest memories is when I gave a man a sleeping bag and said, “God bless you.” He replied, “I am God.” I looked deep into his eyes and replied, “I see that in you, and I love you, you are God.” He smiled a huge smile, his eyes glistened and he said, “I love you, thank you.”
Because we are thankful for the many charities that work tirelessly to help other, we donate on a monthly or annual basis to the following: Advanced Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Anti Recidivism Coalition, Doctors Without Borders, Joshua’s House, Sacramento LGBTQ Community Center, Southern Poverty Law Center, Stand Down Veterans Support, Women’s Empowerment, WEAVE, Wellspring Women’s Center, Wind Youth Services and Heifer International. You can find out more about these charities on our website at https://atherapeuticalternative.com/charities/.
